This July, an exhibition of new commissions by five emerging makers working at the forefront of applied art opened at Jerwood Space in London, the next stop on the UK tour will be Oriel Myrddin Gallery in Carmarthen. Jerwood Makers Open 2012 brings together new works created by Nao Matsunaga, James Rigler, William Shannon, Louis Thompson and Silvia Weidenbach.
Taking the rare opportunity to lead with their imaginations rather than responding to a set brief, these makers have created ambitious new works in ceramics, design, glass, jewellery and mixed materials and will play with both scale and their chosen materials.

Jared Clark

Jared Clark from Utah. He's showing a big grid of chopped up and painted on found-art, mostly stuff he brought from Utah and mostly "country-kitchen" looking stuff. There's a humor and a weird sincerity to the work, as if he's trying to meld contemporary abstraction with my grandmother's decor.

The Last Gallery Studio

Here I am in my studio embarking on my latest series of paintings called Small, Quiet Efforts. I have been working on this series for the last 6 months but intensively for the last month. I have reverted back to larger work which I am more happy with. The work is for my next show here at The Last Gallery from 17th November to 16th December. More info to follow.
